Full description and what we offer
Tomahawk Outfitters operates archery elk hunts on thousands of privately owned acres in Northeastern New Mexico, east and southeast of Raton in the historically productive Moreno Valley. The terrain ranges from foothills to rugged mountains with elevations up to 12,500 feet, featuring ponderosa pine, spruce, quaking aspen groves, and open parks and meadows.
These are fair chase hunts with no high fences on free-ranging elk herds. All guides have years of experience calling in bulls during the September rut—when a bull responds to a call and comes in on the fight, it's one of the most exciting experiences available. 80% shot opportunity rate during the rut season.
Hunt Options: - 7-day hunt: $6,900 (September 6-12 or 16-22) - 5-day hunt: $6,500 (September 8-12 or 18-22) - Upgrade to 1×1 guide service: +$1,000 - Extra hunting days: $500/day
All hunts include meals, lodging, 2×1 guide service, and game care. No draw required for elk tags on private land in New Mexico—tags are guaranteed through land owner permits included in the hunt cost. Hunters must purchase their own New Mexico hunting license ($614 for non-residents, $99 for residents) plus the mandatory game-hunting license ($70 non-resident, $20 resident).
Add a mule deer hunt: +$3,500 | Add a bear hunt: +$2,500
Tomahawk also offers rifle hunts for elk, mule deer, antelope, black bear, mountain lion, and turkey across their hunting units. On-site taxidermy services available.
