Full description and what we offer
Invictus Defense Concepts is a veteran-owned firearms training facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The team brings military, law enforcement, and security experience to every class they run. They're NRA certified and state of New Mexico certified—meaning they can sign you off on the mandatory concealed carry course.
If you need your New Mexico CCW permit, this is the class you need to take. It's the state-mandated 15-hour concealed handgun carry course.
Course structure: - Day 1 (9 hours) - Classroom instruction covering New Mexico gun laws, use of force, where you can and cannot carry, holster selection, conflict avoidance, safe storage, and firearm fundamentals - Day 2 (6 hours) - Range training covering grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, and live fire qualification - Ammunition requirement: Minimum 150 rounds
After completion, you'll have the certification you need to apply for your CCW permit. The course is designed so you leave with actual confidence in your abilities with a handgun, not just a piece of paper.
New Mexico requires concealed carry license holders to take a refresher course every 2 years to maintain their license. Invictus offers both the 2-year refresher and 4-year renewal courses.
2-Year Refresher - 2 hours of instruction - Covers recent legal updates and changes - Live fire qualification - Minimum 100 rounds
4-Year Renewal - 4 hours of instruction and drills - Legal updates and current carry laws - Live fire qualification on the range - Minimum 100 rounds
This is where you actually sharpen your skills beyond basic certification. Skills & Drills covers practical defensive shooting scenarios—the kind of training anyone carrying a gun should be doing regularly.
Topics include: - Shooting on the move - Use of cover and concealment - Magazine changes and reloading drills - Shooting from different positions (standing, kneeling, prone) - Vehicle-based shooting scenarios - One-handed shooting techniques - Malfunction drills - Stress management and how it affects your body under fire - Improvised weapons for defense
Each session covers 3 different topics depending on the month. It's 150 rounds minimum per session, designed to build real proficiency.
For people starting from scratch, the Basic Handgun course covers handgun safety, storage, maintenance, and fundamental shooting skills. This is the foundation before moving into defensive tactics.
Invictus also offers specialized Women's Only Basics, Safety and Drills courses—combining basic fundamentals with skills training in an all-women environment. These 4-hour outdoor sessions require 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition and allow you to bring your own firearm or use one of theirs.
Classes run in Albuquerque, New Mexico throughout the year. Check their events calendar for upcoming dates—they run concealed carry certifications regularly, plus Skills & Drills sessions on varying weekends.
