Full description and what we offer

Triad Defense focuses on firearms instruction that goes beyond basic safety. Their Tactical Urban Pistol Course (TUPC) is an 8-hour, moderate-to-high-stress class designed for concealed carry holders who want to operate effectively under pressure. The curriculum covers street-hardened police tactics and military urban warfare principles—not range theory.

Participants train on:

  • Shoot/don't-shoot decision making and law briefing (New Mexico CCW law)
  • Drawing from concealed carry positions
  • Multiple firing positions (kneeling, prone, from vehicles, seated)
  • Lateral movement and tactical reloads
  • Home defense intricacies
  • Malfunction clearance under live fire

Classes are taught outdoors at Albuquerque Shooting Range Park. A minimum of 200 rounds required per student.

  • Concealed Carry Training — Standard CCW certification and women-only CCW courses
  • Tactical Urban Pistol Class — 8-hour advanced course (monthly schedule + private/group booking)
  • Close Quarter Pistol Tactics — Specialized instruction
  • Tactical Knife Training — Edged weapon fundamentals
  • Security Guard Training — Level 2 and 3 certification, facility protection, threat response
  • Urban Awareness Self-Defense — Custom-tailored, private/semi-private options

Triad Defense has access to ranges and classroom space seven days a week. They accommodate:

  • Corporate group training with volume discounts
  • Private requalification for CCW holders
  • Custom scheduling for security professionals
  • Exigent client requirements

Instructors include David Brown (owner), Donna Gordon, John Swenson, and William De Thomas. All applicants undergo vetting; the business reserves the right to decline or dis-enroll participants based on criminal history, domestic violence convictions, restraining orders, or DWI convictions within 5 years.
