Kazadorez is a private outdoor shooting range in Chacon, New Mexico, locally owned and operated by Michael J and Melinda Leyba. Located in Mora County—one of the few ranges in northeastern New Mexico—the facility sits in scenic mountain terrain ideal for shooters who've outgrown cramped indoor ranges and need space to actually shoot.
Standard shooting lanes accommodate 150 yards with a user-friendly setup for: - Long rifles and precision shooting - Pistol and tactical training - Archery - Makeshift targets for varied training needs
Extended range area available for long-distance shooting at 200-400 yards.
Range is appointment-only and operates from dusk to dawn. Contact Michael or Melinda to schedule your session.
Kazadorez offers State of New Mexico Concealed Handgun License (CCW) certifications and license renewal classes scheduled throughout the year—saving local shooters the trip to urban ranges.
The range serves multiple communities: recreational shooters, hunters, law enforcement functional training, sport shooting enthusiasts, and those learning foundational firearms skills. The Mora County Sheriff's Department uses Kazadorez for mandatory officer qualifying and requalifying. Michael and Melinda also sponsor the Mora 4-H Shooting Sports Club.
"Kazadorez combines the best features of all the ranges I've tried before, and Michael is adding new features every day." – Dave from Albuquerque
