Newark Rod & Gun Club opened its doors in July 1940 with trap and skeet fields, making it a longstanding fixture in upstate New York shooting sports. The club was formally established in 1939 and incorporated in 1940, with the original clubhouse opening in November 1941.

All clay fields are noted for good traps, quality backrounds, and consistent target throws.
The club runs the High School Clay Target League with spring and fall seasons. The 2024 spring season was their most successful to date, with athletes from three schools competing in trap and skeet. Notable recent achievements include:

Memberships purchased after September 15th are valid through the end of that year plus the following full year.
New members must complete an application and attend an in-person orientation during club hours to review safety rules and tour the facility.
