Full description and what we offer
Sycamore Hill Designs operates a 7,000 square foot manufacturing facility where Frank Vallone and his team handle restoration and custom work on shotguns and rifles. The shop recently added a 1,000 sq ft showroom for fitting and project consultation.
They use both specialized hand tools for one-of-a-kind heirloom work and high-precision CNC machinery for short-run production. The capability range—from restoring an irreplaceable antique side-by-side to building a precision-machined stock for a target rifle—sets them apart from shops that do just one or the other.
Stocks & Restoration - Custom shotgun and rifle stocks - Stock repair and duplication - Hand checkering - Stock refinishing - Individual stock fitting - Recoil pad and buttplate installation - Jones and 100 Straight Pad adjusters
Metal Work - Custom laser engraving - Jewelling and engine turning - Gold plating - Parts fabrication - TIG welding for corrosion repair - Hot and slow rust bluing
Gunsmithing - Complete problem diagnosis and repair - Thorough disassembly and cleaning - Shotgun barrel dent removal - Chamber and choke reaming - Metal polishing (matte to deep gloss finishes)
"The finish is first class, glass smooth with no unfilled pores. All rhetoric aside, you are a gentleman, your work is first class." — Gabe M., Ithaca Stock Refinish
Customers describe attention to detail that covers both the visible work and the invisible precision—fine wood finishing, engraving that catches the light, and stocks that fit properly. They communicate through the process with photos at each step.
