Coxsackie Sportsmen's Club has been operating in Greene County since the late 1920s, cementing itself as a backbone of the region's shooting sports community. The club will celebrate its centennial in 2027.
Monday nights at 5 PM. Indoor range runs October through spring. Outdoor shooting takes over spring through October. Indoor is limited to rimfire and straight-walled centerfire handguns up to .44 Remington Magnum jacketed. Outdoor range is unlimited (no bottlenecked cartridges on metal targets).
Both ranges operate as cold ranges—all firearms stay unloaded except on the firing line under direct supervision of a Range Safety Officer.
Trap is open Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9 AM. No membership required. Any shotgun works. The club launches 5-inch round clay targets from an electric launcher at 60-70 MPH from 16 yards behind the trap house—simulating game bird flushes and providing excellent small game season prep.
Novices see noticeable improvement quickly. There's a nominal fee covering target costs.
5 Stand runs during warmer months on Fridays starting at 4 PM. Closed during winter. Check back in spring for updated details.
The club hosts black powder shoots with chili on scheduled dates (January 18, February 15, and March 22 in 2026). Registration runs 9-10 AM with shooting starting around 10 AM, typically wrapping by 2 PM.
Coxsackie runs scheduled IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association) shoots. Shooters must have a valid NYS Pistol License. Check the calendar for practice sessions and scheduled matches.
Held the first Thursday of each month at 6 PM, starting February 5th. Cost is $10. Space is limited and fills on a first-come, first-served basis.
The club teaches the New York State mandatory 16+2 hour pistol permit course required to apply for a pistol license. All instructors are NRA Certified and duly authorized to teach the course. Check the calendar for scheduled dates and the website flyer for full course details.
The club opens its range to the public at least once yearly for rifle and shotgun sighting before big game season. They provide spotting scopes, targets, sandbags, and instruction. Bring your own firearm (unloaded), ammunition, and eye/ear protection. The club also has eye and ear protection available.
NYS Hunter Education Classes are available through the club.
The club runs an active Junior Trap program. Youth groups interested in trap instruction or other firearm training should contact the club with their needs.
Membership dues are due January 31st each year. Membership meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7 PM. The club is also part of the Greene County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs.
Not a member yet? You can still participate in trap shoots and 5 Stand without membership. Only IDPA matches and some events require membership or a valid NYS pistol license.
Trap Winter Fun League runs January 31 – March 7. Entry is $20 (ammo not included). Get details by visiting on Wednesday or Saturday trap shooting days.
The club held a pistol auction in early 2026 featuring: - 5 Canik TP9sF 9mm pistols (all same make, model, caliber) - Each with 2 magazines and holster
"The Club will be 100 years old in 2027!" A century of Greene County shooting sports tradition.
