Freeport Junior Club operates a structured youth firearms safety and competition program at Freeport Revolver & Rifle Association in Freeport, NY. They focus on what actually matters: safety, knowledge, and understanding—taught through hands-on competitive shooting.
The season runs from late September through mid-June, meeting Sundays 2:00pm-6:00pm when school is in session. No meetings during 3-day weekends. Membership cost covers ammunition, targets, and use of club rifles and pistols.
Juniors compete in: - BB shooting - .177 Pellet rifle - .22 Rifle
Both NRA and CMP programs are available, with qualification levels from Pro-Marksman through Distinguished Expert.

The club enforces strict fundamental gun safety rules covering safe direction, finger discipline, ammunition verification, and target awareness. Children age 10 and under must have a parent/guardian present at all times—no exceptions.
NRA membership is required, and your ID number must be on file. The club can assist with NRA applications. Long-term members (5+ years) can request a letter at age 21 to help transition to the Freeport "Big" Club.
