Location details and information
Metropolitan Rod & Gun Club is a private members-only shooting facility located in historic Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. Operated entirely by volunteer members, the club serves hunters, archers, competitive shooters, and anglers committed to sportsmanship, conservation, education, and safety.
The club features two dedicated shooting ranges within its landmark clubhouse:
- •Firearms Range - Located on the ground floor with 6 firing points, 50-foot targets, and electric target carriers. The range includes a ready room with scoring tables, lockers, and monitoring systems. Members participate in NRA-sanctioned classification events in Precision Pistol, International Pistol, and Small-bore Rifle throughout the year. The club is an active member of the Greater New York Pistol League (GNYPL), hosting shoots on Wednesday evenings during the school year.
- •Archery Range - Recently refurbished 20-yard range on the second floor with 5 shooting lanes, including a forward lane for juniors and inexperienced archers. The facility includes 3D targets for hunting skill development. USA Archery-certified Level 2 instructors provide training and tips to members and juniors.
Members gain access to 972 acres of hunting property in Hancock, New York (Delaware County), located in Wildlife Management Unit 4W. The property features hundreds of additional acres of accessible state game lands and is actively managed for deer, turkey, bear, and other game species. The property is approximately 3 hours from Brooklyn.
Juniors programming (ages 8-21) meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm, introducing young shooters to archery and light rifle under instructor supervision. The club offers NRA Winchester Marksmanship Program opportunities for developing shooters.
