Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club sits at 7450 Route 9 North in Plattsburgh, NY, operating a 50-foot heated indoor range that handles rifle, pistol, and archery—all under one roof. This is the place if you need NYS pistol permit qualification or want consistent access to multiple disciplines.
Shooting Disciplines: - Rifle range (22 long rifle ammunition only for rifle shooting) - Pistol range (any caliber permitted) - Indoor archery range - Outdoor archery range (seasonal) - Third archery course available during warmer months
Instruction & Certification: - NYS Concealed Carry Pistol Permit Qualifications: 18-hour course (16 hours classroom theory + 2 hours practical range qualification). Two instructors run separate classes—David Boise (518-569-0908) and Ian Dunbar with Blue Talon Firearms Training (518-593-9074). Qualifications scheduled regularly throughout the year. - LEOSA HR 218 Qualifications: Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act certification for retired and active officers to carry concealed nationally - NRA Certified Rifle & Pistol Instructor Courses - Advanced Pistol Shooting courses
Competitive Programs: - Rough Riders Rifle Team - Plattsburgh State Rifle Team - High school air rifle tournaments - Rifle matches (monthly, seasonal) - USA Archery affiliated—Pin Shoots and open shoots throughout the year - IDPA-style pistol competitions
Youth: - Junior rifle program (Thursday appointments, limited to 8 participants per slot) - Junior shooting pass at $5 per range visit - Boy Scout overnight activities and camping at no cost - 4-H archery partnerships (Clinton County) - Youth archery birthday parties

Member Perks: - Free hunting, fishing, and boating access during daylight hours on club property - Lake access (Woodriff Pond adjacent to facility) - Clubhouse with kitchen, two bathrooms, meeting room, wood-burning stove - Shooting passes available but do NOT include 24/7 key access
Members don't get unsupervised after-hours access. Range use is limited to posted operating hours unless you arrange special access.
Winter Schedule (Oct 15 - June 15): - Sunday: Pistol 12:00-2:30pm (IDPA), Archery 2:30-4:30pm - Monday: Beekmantown HS 3-5:15pm, SUNY Plattsburgh 5:00-7:30pm - Tuesday: Beekmantown HS 3-5:15pm, Rifle 6:00-7:30pm - Wednesday: Pistol 6:00-8:30pm (IDPA) - Thursday: Junior Rifle 4:30pm & 5:30pm (RSVP only) - Friday: Beekmantown HS 3-5:15pm, Pistol & Rifle 6:00pm - Saturday: Rifle & Pistol 11:00am - Every Third Saturday*: Ladies of Liberty 4:30-7:00pm
Summer Schedule (June 15 - Oct 15): - Sunday: Pistol 12:00-2:30pm (IDPA), Archery 2:40-4:30pm - Tuesday: Rifle 6:00pm - Wednesday: Pistol 6:00-9:00pm (IDPA) - Friday: Pistol & Rifle 6:00-8:00pm - Saturday: Rifle & Pistol 11:00am - Thursday Jr Rifle: By appointment only (RSVP, max 8 juniors)
