Location details and information
Founded in 1934, the Southern Dutchess & Putnam Sportsmen's Association is one of the region's most established shooting clubs. Located in Wappingers Falls, New York on Cedar Hill Road, this member-based organization has a long tradition of supporting conservation, shooting sports, and outdoor recreation.
The club maintains diverse shooting ranges to accommodate all skill levels and disciplines:
Shooting Sports: - Rifle shooting and competitions - Pistol practice and training - Archery and 3D shoots - Trap and clay shooting - .22 caliber shooting leagues
Education & Training: - NYS Hunter Education courses - Bow hunting education - Trapping education - NRA Basic Pistol courses - NRA Instructor certification training - NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) training
Community Events: - 3D archery shoots held throughout the year (June, July, September) - Annual picnic - Game dinner - Social gatherings for members and families
Beyond the ranges, members enjoy access to: - Pheasant hunting preserve - Hunting land leases - Fishing lake access (Sharbell Lake property)
The club accepts both Regular and Shooter memberships on an annual basis. Fishing memberships are currently full. New member applications are evaluated at the June annual meeting based on availability. Membership dues are kept intentionally low to remain accessible to the community.
