Full description and what we offer
Blueberry Range Firearms Education and Training Center opened in July 2024 after years of planning to create what owner Mike envisioned: a proper learning environment for firearms instruction instead of the backyard ranges he'd seen around Roxboro.
Mike retired from public service in 2012 to care for his wife Mary, who had developed Alzheimer's. During those years, he purchased his first pistol and started shooting to manage caregiver stress. After her death, he pursued certifications to become a firearms instructor—earning his NRA, USSCA, and NC DOJ certifications in basic pistol, advanced pistol self-defense, and NC Concealed Carry.
His teaching philosophy doesn't follow a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, he assesses each student's environment, lifestyle, physical capabilities, and learning style—then builds a cost-effective personal protection plan that fits their actual needs.
"I believe every student deserves to receive firearms education and training appropriate for the student."
The facility sits on 27 acres of timber and grassland. The range itself features:
No horseplay, disputes, or alcohol/drugs allowed. Hearing and eye protection mandatory on the firing line. All firearms must be unloaded and holstered/cased before entering the facility.
