Full description and what we offer
Carolina Self Defense & Krav Maga teaches Krav Maga—contact combat developed for the Israeli Defense Forces—along with practical self-defense skills. The core philosophy is straightforward: do whatever is needed to cause damage to your attacker and get away quickly. No fancy acrobatic moves. No belt ranking system for ego. Just instinctive punches, elbows, knees, and grappling designed to work when it matters.
Krav Maga combines techniques from multiple fighting systems: boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiujitsu, Muay Thai, and kickboxing. But it's not a traditional martial art. It teaches defending and counterattacking simultaneously, emphasizes situational awareness at all times, and prioritizes de-escalation before violence starts. Age, gender, and fitness level don't matter—the techniques work regardless.
"You never know when you'll need to react; not think. And that... could save your life." — Bob C., member for over a year
Regular classes run from Fundamentals/Level 1 through Level 3/4. Beyond standard Krav Maga, they offer specialty training:
Classes are fast-paced and intense, but every student trains at their own pace. Instructors break down movements for beginners while keeping advanced students challenged. You'll get a full-body workout—resistance training, cardio, calisthenics—and leave exhausted but accomplished.
Comfortable workout clothes, barefoot or mat shoes. Mouthpiece and groin protection recommended. No expensive gear required.
Structured courses for absolute beginners wanting to learn self-defense fundamentals in 6-8 weeks. Designed for anyone with zero martial arts background.
Intensive weekend workshops ($) focusing on scenarios women actually face:
Each seminar stands alone but builds a foundation together. Participants practice defensive techniques in controlled, safe, role-play scenarios with trained instructors. Ages 13+. Bring workout clothes and water; striking gloves optional.
"The class taught me it's not all about strength, but strategy... I'm 5'4" and 110 lbs soaking wet, and I've always been afraid. Now I feel safer." — 16-year-old participant
$80–$100/hour for one person (rates vary by instructor level). One-on-one attention when regular classes don't fit your schedule.
The team includes:
All instructors share a genuine passion for Krav Maga and student development.
Members consistently report the same thing: this is a supportive, non-competitive group. No macho posturing. Beginners and advanced students train side-by-side. Instructors clearly care about helping you get the skills to protect yourself if needed.
"I've been a member for over a year. Every class is a challenge. I've gotten in the best shape of my life, learned how to throw a decent punch, and feel confident about defending myself or my family if needed." — Scott S.
