Personal Defense Academy specializes in North Carolina concealed carry handgun training, taught by instructors certified through both the NRA and North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission. This isn't a quick rubber-stamp class—you get experienced trainers who know what they're teaching.
Matt Norris brings over 15 years of law enforcement experience, including extensive officer training duties. He's certified as an NRA Instructor, law enforcement general instructor, specialized law enforcement firearms instructor, and concealed carry firearms instructor. He also teaches Basic Law Enforcement Training and in-service classes at a local community college.
Ed Norris holds military firearms experience and over 20 years of instructional background. He's an NRA-certified instructor and North Carolina concealed carry firearms instructor with a Master's Degree from Fayetteville State University and serious sportsman credentials.

If you bring your own handgun: - At least TWO magazines (combined minimum 10 rounds capacity) - Minimum 50 rounds of ammunition - Eye protection - Ear protection
Renting through the academy means you show up empty-handed—they provide the handgun, ammunition, and all protective equipment.
Full-day commitment: Classes start at 8am and typically wrap between 5-6pm depending on range time. Plan accordingly.
Registration is required before your class date. One reschedule is allowed with 48-hour notice. The academy's refund policy is strict: any cancellations within 10 days of class date forfeit payment entirely (no refunds allowed, reschedule-only option). Cancellations more than 10 days out require approval and include a 10% processing fee.
Special concealed carry classes can be arranged upon request if you have a group of 8 or more shooters. These require full payment one week in advance.

The classroom training portion happens at the Slocomb Road location. Range time follows classroom instruction—call if you have questions about logistics.
Two options: $75 for class-only (you bring your own gun), or $95 for class plus handgun rental. Digital delivery after purchase.
