Wing Shots Gun Club operates 11944 Shaw Highway in Burgaw, North Carolina—a working farm property focused on serious hunting and clay shooting. They're not the "nice weather only" type. Club members hunt in rain, sleet, snow, and whatever else Mother Nature throws at them.
The club runs seasonal operations across multiple game species:
| Facility | Details |
|---|---|
| Skeet Range | Regulation skeet course |
| 5 Stand | For sport shooting variety |
| Wobbler | Wobbling clay target system |
The club hosts "Skeet n Eat" workdays where members help maintain the property, then shoot and cookout. These are volunteer efforts but not mandatory—the focus is on community and preparation for upcoming seasons.
Wing Shots operates as a functional hunting farm with actively maintained food plots, crops in impoundments, and equipment infrastructure (tractors, pumps, mowers, throwers). The property took significant damage during Hurricane Florence in 2018 but was restored for the opening of duck and deer seasons.

Membership is required. Spots typically fill before seasons begin, though the club occasionally has openings. Members receive email notifications about upcoming hunts and season updates. The operation follows North Carolina hunting regulations and migration patterns to maximize opportunity.
The club maintains an active calendar: - Duck Season - Opens December, typically runs 8+ weeks with weather-dependent hunts - Dove Season - Typically opens in September, reopens later in year, runs through January - Deer Season - Standard NC seasons - Pheasant Tower Shoots - Regularly scheduled events - Youth Days - Special outreach events (February historically)
Wing Shots isn't about perfect conditions. They hunt in the worst weather because that's when ducks move. Members drove 3 straight days of rain at 36-39 degrees and still had a full pheasant tower shoot. They track actual migration patterns instead of guessing—checking reports from regional refuges to predict when birds will arrive. The club has survived equipment loss, flooding, and property damage and came back operational for season openings.
This is a club for hunters who understand that hunting requires work, maintenance, and showing up regardless of conditions.
