Brazen Firearms handles mail-in customization work for builders and enthusiasts who want their guns to stand out. Run by Gabe and Ashley, the shop accepts disassembled firearm parts via mail, applies specialized finishes, and ships everything back to you. No walk-in retail—this is pure gunsmith work.
- •Cerakote Coatings — Over 50 in-stock colors including Crimson, Bazooka Pink, Multicam Brown, Mil-Spec OD Green, and everything in between. Custom colors available for a $35 upcharge. Cerakote is heat-cured and ceramic-based, giving slides, frames, and small parts a durable finish that pops visually without sacrificing toughness. Standard turnaround for Cerakote-only work is 6–8 weeks (longer if combined with other services).
- •TiN & PVD Coatings — Titanium Nitride and Physical Vapor Deposition finishes in Gold, Black, Rose, and Gray. These coatings work on high-friction parts like barrels, slides, and small steel components. They're durable, provide good lubrication properties, and resist wear better than bare steel. Standard turnaround: up to 4 weeks.
- •Hand Stippling — All patterns are hand-cut with clean borders. They offer 10+ unique stipple designs for grip texture and aesthetics. Stipple-only work runs up to 4 weeks. They also sell pre-stippled SSI BITE Grips for 1911 owners who want their gun stippled without sending in a frame.
- •Optic Cuts — Cut to specification for RMR, red dot, and other common optic mounts across multiple pistol platforms. Optic cuts with no refinish take up to 6 weeks; cuts combined with Cerakote or TiN/PVD refinish take up to 3 months.

- •Frame shipping note: If sending in a frame, use UPS or FedEx only (not USPS). Include a copy of their FFL and your ID. Frames ship back to your ID address unless you've arranged another FFL.
- •On coating durability: TiN and PVD coatings are very durable. They warranty against manufacturing defects but not wear marks (wear varies by holster and use). Gold, Black, and Rose finishes are most durable for high-friction, everyday-carry applications.
- •Threaded barrels — Can be TiN coated without affecting threads; coating actually protects threads from wear.
- •Aftermarket barrels — Yes, and it's a large part of their business.
- •New barrels — They recommend shooting 200+ rounds through a new barrel first so slide and barrel are fully seated before coating.
- •Sights — They remove and reinstall dovetailed sights free of charge (XD, Kimber, and other brands with tight sights carry removal risk; Brazen isn't responsible for sight damage during removal).
- •Cleaning coated parts — Most grime wipes off with a paper towel. Stubborn marks: use 0000 steel wool with oil. Coatings still need regular lubrication and oiling (TiN doesn't prevent rust).
- •Polished parts — They won't coat polished surfaces. All pieces get media blasted for a satin finish before refinishing.
- •Disassembly fees — Glock slides/frames get standard handling. Other slides, frames, or complex parts may incur an armorer's fee; contact them first.
- •PVD chamber limitation: Only solid steel parts can go through PVD chambers. No welds or pinned components.
"I cannot thank y'all enough for the amazing work you've provided me with. The quality is truly top notch, the milling is smooth and defined, the TiN coating was flawless, and the cerakote color...was a perfect match. Turnaround time was approximately 2 and a half weeks from the day I shipped it out, which is extremely fast given the work done to my gun." — James W.
