Maverick Personal Defense Training

Maverick Personal Defense Training specializes in concealed carry certification and progressive firearms training in the Dayton area. Based in Dayton with a private range in Hillsboro, they offer everything from Ohio CCW-compliant basics to advanced tactical shooting—plus judo and self-defense instruction.

Pistol Track - Pistol 1/CCW – 8-hour Ohio-compliant course covering safe handling, storage, ammunition safety, and marksmanship fundamentals. Includes 2+ hours of live-fire range time. - Pistol 2 – 4-hour intermediate class focusing on drawing from holster, multiple targets, move-and-shoot techniques, and cover versus concealment. - Pistol 3 – 4-hour advanced course building on shooting from cover, multiple positions (prone, kneeling, side, sitting), and tactical decision-making.

Rifle Training - Rifle 1 – 6-hour course (3 hours classroom, 3 hours range). Covers rifle safety, rifle types and parts, shooting positions, ammunition types, and storage.

Alternative Self-Defense - Judo and self-defense classes taught at Gi Yu Dojo in Dayton - Women's self-defense courses with emphasis on building confidence and practical techniques

Instructor-led by certified NRA trainers. Classes are structured progressively—you need Pistol 1 before Pistol 2, and Pistol 2 before Pistol 3. This isn't a drop-in operation; it's a curriculum. They also accommodate loaners and ammo purchases if you don't have equipment.
