Tactical Skills Development offers structured progression courses in handgun, rifle, and shotgun skills—going well beyond what Ohio's CCW permit requires. Their curriculum is built for people serious about understanding their defensive tools, whether you're starting from scratch or advancing to specialized techniques.
Handgun Training - Handgun Level 1 (CCW +): 10-hour class satisfying Ohio CCW permit requirements plus additional defensive fundamentals. Covers 5 hours classroom, 5 hours range work. $150 ($125 for first responders). Requires safe semi-auto or revolver, belt holster, 300+ rounds, 3+ magazines, eye/ear protection. - Handgun Level 2: Advanced techniques including retention shooting, hand switching, one-handed shooting (dominant/non-dominant), movement, shooting from cover, and low-light work. 10 hours, 500+ rounds minimum. Prerequisite: Level 1 or Defensive Shooting Skills. $200. - Defensive Shooting Skills: Standalone fundamentals course (details in schedule). - Red Dot Pistol: 8-hour specialized class for shooters new to red dot sights or struggling with dot acquisition. MSP certified instruction covers grip, presentation, body position, dot tracking, recoil management, and transitions. 500+ rounds. Prerequisite: Level 1, Defensive Shooting Skills, or equivalent. $200.
Rifle & Carbine Training - Tactical Rifle 1: Foundational carbine class teaching selection criteria, ballistics, safety, zeroing, positional shooting, and CQB drills. Works with AR, AK, SCAR 16, and similar platforms. 10 hours, 600 rifle rounds + 50 pistol rounds optional. Fast-paced; basic rifle knowledge recommended. $200. - Tactical Rifle 2: Advanced progression with additional ready positions, unconventional shooting angles, extensive cover use, movement drills, verbal communication under fire, and low-light techniques. 10 hours, 750 rifle rounds + 50 pistol optional. Prerequisite: Tactical Rifle 1. $200. - Foreign Weapons Systems: Specialized training on non-standard platforms (listed in course menu).
Specialized Weapons & Tactics - Tactical Shotgun: 8-hour course building handling, loading, shooting, and tactical application skills. Many gun owners have shotguns but rarely train with them; this class fills that gap. 250 birdshot, 5 buckshot. $200. - Vehicle Tactics: Request-only private agency training.
Emergency Medical Training - EDC Trauma: 7-hour course on emergency trauma medicine for real-world scenarios. Covers airway management, casualty assessment, treatment of bleeding/hemorrhaging, pneumothorax, scenario-based exercises, and trauma kit setup. Held in Russia, OH. $200.
