Tom's Pawn started in 1972 when Tom and Dennis Garrett opened their first location in Clute. What began as a single pawnshop has grown into four locations serving Lake Jackson, Angleton, Brazoria, and Clute—all still family-owned and operated.

Tom graduated from UT with a pharmacy degree. Dennis went through Sam Houston State for business management. Their son Brian now runs the company with the same focus on helping people and building relationships that's defined the business for 50+ years.

All four Tom's Pawn locations handle FFL transfers:

• •Transfer fee: $40 plus tax per firearm
• •Age requirements: 18 for long shotguns and hunting rifles; 21 for AR-style rifles, handguns, and pistol-grip shotguns
• •Online orders: Purchase from their online gun store and get it delivered to any location in 3-6 days with no transfer fee

They also maintain an eBay store and offer layaway services.

Like most multi-location pawnshops, Tom's handles general pawning and loans. They're members of the National Pawnbrokers Association and Texas Association of Pawnbrokers, plus active in local chambers and Rotary.
