Location details and information
Miamisburg Sportsmen's Club operates a comprehensive shooting facility with nine distinct ranges designed for different firearms types and skill levels. Members access everything from indoor pistol ranges open 8 AM to 10 PM daily, to outdoor bays for rifles, shotguns, and specialized competitive shooting.
The club is active in organized shooting sports:
- •USPSA Sunday Shooting Matches - United States Practical Shooting Association competitions
- •SCSA Steel Challenge - Steel target competitive events
- •Monday Night Fun League - Weekly recreational competition
- •Action Pistol Range - Dedicated facility for dynamic shooting with course-of-fire capability
Each range is configured for specific purposes:
| Range Type | Primary Use | Allowed Firearms |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor Range | Pistol practice | Handguns (non-high-impact), 22LR rifles, pistol carbines 9mm/.40S&W/.45ACP |
| West Range | Rimfire-focused | Rimfire rifles/handguns, shotguns (shot only), long-barrel handguns |
| Magee Ranges (1-3) | Rifles & hunting | Centerfire/rimfire rifles, shotguns, archery allowed |
| Handgun Ranges | Pistol practice | Centerfire/rimfire handguns up to .45 caliber, shotguns (shot only) |
| Plate Rack | Steel target shooting | Handguns (non-high-impact rounds only), rimfire rifles |
| Rifle Ranges | 50 & 100 yard shooting | Centerfire/rimfire rifles, slugs, black powder, long-barrel handguns |
| Shotgun Bay | Shot/buckshot | Lead shot, steel, bismuth, tungsten (specific restrictions apply) |
| Trap Range | Clay competition | 12 gauge and smaller, 7½ shot or smaller (club events only) |
The club defines "high impact rounds" specifically to protect members and facilities. This includes magnums, bottlenecked cartridges, straight-walled rifle cartridges, and ammunition with extreme damage profiles. Members determine suitability for steel/equipment on a case-by-case basis.
Standard Range Hours: - Monday-Saturday: 8 AM to dusk - Sunday: 10 AM to dusk - Indoor Range: 8 AM to 10 PM all days
Membership card must be displayed while on club property. The facility maintains a straightforward operational philosophy: leave the property in better condition than you arrived.
The club actively supports young shooters through:
- •MSC Shooting Starlets - Youth shooting program with monthly matches
- •Youth Sports Programs - Supervised shooting instruction
- •Youth must be supervised at all times on club grounds
- •Family-oriented membership structure
Safety training is mandatory for certain ranges (notably the Action Pistol Range). The club maintains strict rules on:
- •Unattended firearm prohibitions
- •Proper hearing protection requirements
- •Backstop and target placement standards
- •Safety violation protocol with retraining options
The club issued an emergency amendment in 2021 prohibiting Sig P320 and all variants (including M17/M18) from club grounds due to documented safety concerns with federal, state, and military agencies.
