Full description and what we offer
Green Valley Hunting and Retriever Club is an official UKC/HRC organization run by families who spend their time developing working hunting dogs. This isn't a commercial kennel—it's hunters training their own dogs alongside other hunters doing the same.
GVHRC runs monthly training days from February through August. Each session offers four different training group options:
The club holds a licensed HRC hunt test every May. They also run fun hunts (like hunt tests but without title points), team competitions, trap shoots, and weekend events throughout the year.
First-time retriever and upland bird dog owners get step-by-step assistance in: - Obedience training - Lining and handling drills - Controlled quartering and trailing - Steadiness to flush and shot
Experienced handlers use training days to prepare for hunt tests or refine specific skills. Members exchange knowledge and work together to improve their dogs' abilities.
"A well-trained retriever or upland dog is a key component of conservation. A good bird dog is able to track and recover more game than a hunter working alone."
With proper training, the handler and dog work as a team to recover game from places the dog didn't see fall. Hand signals, voice commands, and whistle commands direct the dog to recover game that would otherwise be lost—including birds shot by other hunting parties.
