Full description and what we offer
Hastartes Tactical teaches Pekiti-Tirsia Kali (PTK), a Filipino martial arts system built on force-on-force engagement and actual combat application. This isn't traditional karate or sport fighting—it's practical methodology designed for real-world self-defense situations.
"The system is no frills/no BS FMA for real fighting." - Joseph B., Mountainview, CA
The curriculum is organized around Doce Methodos ("The 12 Methods of Pasugat"), the foundation system covering force-on-force principles. Students progress through advanced systems including Pasunod (Contradas System) and Recontradas/Recontras.
Ranking advancement is based on two criteria: 1. Physical ability to execute combat principles tactically 2. Intellectual understanding of foundation and methodology
The ranking system has 4 phases with 3 levels each: - Phase 1 (Baguhan): Probationary/beginner students - Phase 2 (Disipulo): Foundation-level disciples - Phase 3 (Kawal): Advanced practitioners with associate instructor role - Phase 4 (Dalubhasa): Senior instructors with advanced system knowledge
Students graduate to certified Guro (teacher) after completing all 12 levels.
Firearms proficiency is highly encouraged. The group regularly schedules range days for shooting fundamentals, CQB exercises, and other tactical practice.
Students learn to identify and utilize everyday objects—flashlights, pens, books, keys, water bottles, clothing, belts—as weapons of opportunity.
