Pioneer Gun Works started in 2004 with a simple mission: make custom parts for cowboy action shooters. Founder Joe Alves brought 42 years of manufacturing experience as a machinist, mechanical engineer, and tool programmer—experience that shows in every part they design.
They make their own high-quality replacement parts:
- •Short-stroke kits (Standard and Super, $231 each)
- •Firing pin extensions and springs
- •Coil mainspring conversions for 1866/1873 rifles
- •Speed sights (carbine and rifle lengths)
- •Stainless steel followers and carriers
- •Replacement screws and specialty components
They also stock parts from Longhunter Shooting Supply and carry Bunkhouse Leather holsters and gear.
As of late 2024, their in-house gunsmith is back to accepting custom rifle work on a part-time basis. Services include:
- •Rifle action jobs: $400
- •Stage packages: Priced individually
- •Parts installation: $50/hour labor
