Elverson Rod & Gun Club has been operating for over 80 years on 20 acres of land in northern Chester County, Pennsylvania. The club sits on Highway 23, just east of Highway 82 and west of Highway 345—right in the middle of Chester County's shooting community.

This is a private members-only club, but they host public events regularly:

  • Board Shoots - First Sunday of every month, October through June at 11am. Membership required to participate, but everyone's welcome. January hosts the annual "money shoot."
  • Trap Shoots - Weekly starting the first Tuesday in April through the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. $5 per round with free birds in every full squad. Membership required.
  • Shooting Ranges - Separate rifle, shotgun, and pistol ranges on the property
  • Work Nights - Third Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Non-members can volunteer here to meet club members and learn about joining
  • Social Events - Members-only gathering space

The club maintains strict shooting guidelines:

Permitted Firearms: - Manually operated and semi-automatic rifles - Handguns (semi-automatic and revolvers) - Shotguns (single projectile only at target boards; shot shells only at patterning board) - Muzzle loaders

Prohibited: - Automatic weapons and devices that simulate automatic fire (Hell Fire triggers) - .50 caliber BMG - Tracer ammunition

Approved Targets: - Paper targets - Clay pigeons (from hand or foot-operated throwers) - Shotgun patterning boards with personal targets

Shooting Hours: - Monday-Saturday: 9am to official sunset - Sunday: 10am to official sunset - Closed during club events and private rentals - Closed first six days of Pennsylvania firearm deer season (typically Monday after Thanksgiving) - Half-hour limit if others are waiting

Vision and hearing protection required for all shooters

Membership is currently full with no waitlist maintained. A small number of slots occasionally open in March. Requirements to apply:

1. US citizen and Pennsylvania resident 2. Sponsored by a current member in good standing 3. Attendance at a monthly members meeting or work night

Application forms are available in December, with submissions accepted starting in January.
