West Penn Sportsmen's Club operates a clay target shooting facility at 5730 Saltsburg Road, Murrysville, PA 15668. The club hosts competitive and recreational shooting across multiple disciplines.
Clay Target Disciplines: - Sporting Clays (NSCA sanctioned events) - Trap (including automated trap) - Five-Stand (newly renovated 2024) - Skeet - Winter League competitions - Young Old Timers League
The newly renovated five-stand setup includes: - Multiple target presentations — fast crossing shots, bounding rabbit targets, and various combinations - 2024 upgrades: High-efficiency heaters, auxiliary propane heaters, closed-in observation windows, new gun racks and seating - Year-round comfort — designed to handle any weather conditions - Hours: Thursdays 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
The updated target-control system offers multiple challenge levels with new target-pair combinations for both beginners and experienced shooters.
West Penn runs NRA-certified instruction for young shooters through funding from the NRA Foundation and Safari Club International (SCI).
New Shooters (Ages 12-16): - Introductory course for beginners or minimal-experience shooters - Fundamentals focus: safe handling, proper technique, target acquisition - 2-week format: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Free targets and ammunition provided - Shotguns available on limited basis - Pre-registration required - Parents must accompany children on club grounds
High School/Competitive Team Shooters: - Advanced instruction for experienced shooters - Trap doubles and sporting clays opportunities - Thursdays 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. for 6 weeks - Free targets and ammunition provided - Pre-registration required

- •Dinner-only option: $25
- •Babes Bustin' Clays — Women's event with registration for all experience levels (brand new to competitive shooters). Gun options available if you don't have your own.

- •Monthly board meetings held second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the clubhouse
- •Open membership with volunteer opportunities
