Full description and what we offer
Chuck McLendon owns South Carolina Concealed Weapons Training and brings serious credentials to the classroom. He's a certified South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Firearms instructor, SLED certified, and holds a CWP firearms instructor certification. His background includes 25 years in law enforcement—patrol, traffic, training, SWAT, bloodhound tracking, and community-oriented policing.
Classes focus on making students emotionally, physically, and legally prepared for self-defense. You'll get hands-on experience and learn South Carolina gun laws—critical given the state's newer Constitutional Carry Law and its penalties for violations.
- •Important: Under Constitutional Carry, anyone 18+ can legally carry openly or concealed without a permit. However, violations of SC gun laws with a concealable weapon carry stiffer penalties plus an additional 3-year prison sentence if you don't have a CWP. That's why the legal education piece matters.
Students as young as 15 can take the course and hold their paperwork until turning 18 to obtain their SC Multi-State Carry Permit. Anyone 18 or older is eligible immediately.
- •Handgun (pistol or revolver) 12" or less—or rent one for $20
- •25 rounds of ammunition
- •Holster and belt (suggested but not required)
- •Hearing and eye protection provided at no extra cost
$15 class fee
Based out of Florence, Chuck is certified to teach throughout the entire state of South Carolina. The organization partners with USCCA/Delta Defense and encourages students to pursue advanced training through USCCA.
