Black Creek Gun Club has operated since 1980 as a member-owned shooting facility serving casual and competitive shooters across South Carolina. Located at 4480 Patrick-Society Hill Road in Patrick (near Hartsville), the club is NRA-affiliated and CMP-sanctioned (#037005).

Rifle Range - 16 covered positions with both wooden and cement benches - Berms at 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, and 300 yards/meters - Designed for precision rifle work and zero verification

Handgun Range - Separate covered range with standing benches - Target frames at 25, 50, and 75 feet - Steel and paper target capability

Archery Course - 7 targets laid through wooded area - Up to 3 marked distances per target - Separate from firearms ranges

The club hosts organized matches on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays:

Registration typically starts 8:30 AM with safety briefings before 9 AM starts.

Matches run year-round with a published 2026 calendar. Club remains open during matches—members and guests can use side ranges or compete.

  • Cost to Join: $150 ($25 application fee included)
  • Renewal: $125/year
  • Active-duty police: 25% discount ($31.25 renewal)
  • Late fee: $15 if postmarked after Sept 30

Core Requirements - Eye and ear protection mandatory at firing line - All firearms kept pointed downrange - Maximum 10 rounds loaded at a time (except during matches) - No fully automatic weapons or bump-fire stocks - Every bullet must impact a berm—targets on rails or frames only - No glass targets - No alcohol on property - Convicted felons prohibited

300-Yard Berm Protocol - Rifles must be zeroed at 200 yards first - First three bays on right side only - Shooting from bench in prone position recommended - If unsure where bullets impact, move to closer berm immediately

Guest Policy - Members may bring up to 2 guests at a time - Guests allowed only 2 visits total (not per year) - Prior members cannot be guests - Member must stay with guests at all times - Guest waiver required on arrival - Members responsible for guest safety and conduct

Black Creek hosts 4 match types monthly plus special state-level IHMSA events:

  • IHMSA STATE Matches: August (Field Pistol & Pistol Hunter), September (Bolt Gun & Hunter Silhouette), October (Standing Barricade & Field Silhouette)
