Horry Chapter Wildlife Action

Horry Chapter Wildlife Action operates a full shooting facility in Galivants Ferry with nine dedicated ranges: one 50/100-yard rifle range, eight pistol/rifle ranges, one shotgun range, plus dedicated trap and skeet fields. They host sanctioned matches and events throughout the month.

• •Trap & Skeet - Two clay fields (one dedicated trap, one combo trap/skeet) open Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. ATA-sanctioned matches held the 1st Saturday of each month.

• •Steel Challenge - 2nd Saturday, 10am-3pm. Register on PractiScore.com with safety briefing at 9:45am (8:45am summer hours).

• •Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) - 3rd Saturday of every month.

• •Pistol Matches - 4th Saturday features a 50/50 target and fun shoot.

• •Archery - Also available on the grounds.

Part of Wildlife Action, Inc.—a national non-profit focused on wildlife habitat conservation, education, and responsible firearms stewardship—the Horry Chapter emphasizes both shooting sports and public education. Members include NRA Instructors ready to help anyone from complete beginners to experienced shooters improve their skills.

The Pioneer Program introduces kids to firearms with training, free ammunition, and overnight camping weekends with provided meals.

• •Ladies Day runs twice yearly as a women-only shooting event with firearms, ammunition, and lunch provided. Mothers and daughters encouraged to participate.

• •Youth Summer Camp - Scholarships available through the national organization for day and overnight programs at the Fork Retch Wildlife Refuge.

• •Outreach - Club teams visit local schools and youth programs teaching wildlife habitat and conservation.

Guest fee: $10.00 for pistol, rifle, trap & skeet, and archery (effective September 1, 2025). Membership available. Contact [email protected] or ask a member to bring you out.
