Full description and what we offer
Best Deer Hunting operates as Aberdeen's gateway to South Dakota's deer hunting traditions. South Dakota holds over 5 million acres of public and leased private land open to hunters, and Aberdeen sits in the heart of trophy whitetail country where nonresident hunters find consistent opportunities.
Trophy whitetail deer are the most highly sought after big game species in South Dakota and are abundant in the Aberdeen area.
Nonresident archery licenses are easier to obtain than rifle licenses (which run through lottery). Archery season runs October 1st through early January, with shooting hours from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
The region includes over 1.25 million acres of Walk-In Areas, approximately 730 Game Production Areas (295,000+ acres), and access to Waterfowl Production Areas—all managed for wildlife production and public hunting.
