Lake City Tactical Firearms Training

Lake City Tactical Firearms Training handles South Dakota's Enhanced Pistol Permit requirements with regular Saturday morning classes in Watertown. They schedule courses throughout the year—August, September, October, and November dates available—hitting the administrative and shooting requirements the state demands.

Classes split between classroom instruction and live fire at the Watertown Area Shooting Complex. They partner with Pries Laser Works and use Family Worship Center for classroom portions. Saturday morning timing works for people juggling regular schedules.

They teach additional courses on request:

• •NRA Basic Pistol
• •NRA Personal Protection In The Home
• •Defensive Handgun 1 (1-day course): Equipment selection, SUL position, Low Ready, Retention Position, multiple targets, speed and tactical reloads, malfunction clearances
• •Defensive Handgun 2 (2-day course): Concealment work, cover use, close quarters 0-5 feet, movement, cognitive function under stress, FBI Handgun Qualification

From April through November, they host invitation-only monthly shoots. Shooters bring whatever they normally carry in their actual carry method. Each month introduces a new course of fire with zero advance notice—emphasis on weapon handling, marksmanship, problem-solving, with a lesson or myth to debunk.

You shoot cold first, receive coaching, then shoot again. Entire event runs on a single box of ammo. Wraps with qualifier drills and debrief with other shooters.

• •Hearing protection: earplugs or earmuffs (electronic preferred)
• •Dress for actual weather—they shoot rain or shine
