Full description and what we offer
Larry Picek started hunting Short Pines Ranch in 1969. Today, he and his wife Beth host semi-guided hunts across approximately 8,000 acres—3,500 in the Black Hills and 4,500 on the prairie in Harding County's remote northwest corner.
Archery licenses are over-the-counter in South Dakota. Firearm deer licenses run through a lottery system (application typically due in March for Special Buck tags, July for regular West River Deer).
The remote cabin was built in 2015 and includes:
"In over fifty years of deer hunting I have never seen as many bucks in one day of hunting as I saw at Short Pines, both whitetail and mulies." — L. Steve Bublitz, Huron, SD
