Full description and what we offer

Black Jack Outfitters operates near Cowan, Tennessee—roughly 90 miles from Nashville and 60 miles from Chattanooga. The operation centers on 500 acres of private farmland with about 100 acres of woods, surrounded by thousands of acres of mountain land that sees minimal hunting pressure.

The property is farmed in soybeans, providing year-round food sources that draw deer from the entire region. You'll hunt from either ladder stands or 6 comfortable shooting houses with office chairs scattered across 4 food plots. Drop-off and pickup happen after every hunt.

"We only take 6-8 hunters each year and prefer groups of 2-3 hunters per 3-day hunt."

SeasonHunt TypePrice

  • Hunt Format: You arrive Friday at noon, hunt through Sunday evening—5 total hunts. Hunt all day if you want. Additional days run $300 (bow), $350 (muzzleloader/rifle).
  • Harvest Rules: One buck and one doe per 3-day hunt. Only mature bucks qualify—8 points minimum with 15-inch inside antler spread. Breach this and you pay a $250 penalty. Youth hunters 15 and under are exempt. Unlimited coyotes and bobcats.

50% deposit secures your spot. Hunting licenses not included but available online or 2 miles from the property. Hunter's orange required during firearm seasons.

The outfit doesn't currently provide lodging or meals, but has solid options nearby:

  • Franklin-Pearson House B&B: 5 minutes away, $80–90/night, next to an upscale Mexican restaurant
  • RV Hookups: Water, electricity, septic available on the property—no extra charge
  • Winchester: 10–15 minutes away with multiple lodging and dining options

Southern Tennessee's rut typically peaks mid-to-late November. Depending on the year, the peak could fall in late muzzleloader season or the first couple weeks of rifle season.

An award-winning taxidermist and processor operates 20 minutes away. Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg is 30 miles out. Chattanooga (60 miles) offers the TN Aquarium, Rock City, and Ruby Falls.
