Full description and what we offer
Austin Hot Shots started in 2009 when Renee and Dean Blaine combined their love of firearms, competition, and teaching into a training school with a clear mission: help shooters—especially women—build real proficiency. Both are NRA-certified instructors in pistol and shotgun, Range Safety Officers, and competitive sporting clays shooters who've competed in national championships. That background shows in every class.
Small class sizes matter. Austin Hot Shots caps every class at 10 students maximum. That instructor-to-student ratio means more hands-on drill time and personalized feedback, not watching from the back of a crowded range.
Renee specifically built Austin Hot Shots to encourage, educate, and assist women in firearm proficiency. All women's classes are taught by women instructors—a detail that matters more than it sounds. The school focuses on building confidence and professional skills for both practical shooting sports and self-defense/concealed carry.
"A gun is only as good or bad as the person using it"
Every course includes range time—no classroom-only instruction. The school tailors instruction to individual skill levels, whether you're picking up a gun for the first time or adding to years of experience. The goal is straightforward: help shooters confidently and responsibly exercise their right to own a firearm.
