Capital City Clays operates from 8707 Lindell Lane in Austin and has been in business since 1980. They run four different shooting disciplines on their Hill Country property: sporting clays, trap, skeet, and 5-stand courses.
Sporting Clays simulates bird hunting with clay targets that mimic unpredictable flight patterns. You move through a course of stations at your own pace. Plan for at least one hour to complete a round.
5-Stand offers a more dynamic, confined setup. Different target presentations and difficulty levels let you test your skills without the walking required for full sporting clays courses.
Trap & Skeet ranges are available for recreational shooters and those training for competition.

Members get 20% off targets and ammo, 25% off cart rentals and merchandise. You can also invite guests to shoot at member rates up to three times yearly at no extra cost.
No reservations needed for walk-ins. Groups of 25 or more can contact them for event hosting.
Wednesday - Sunday: 9 AM - 7 PM Monday & Tuesday: CLOSED
Arrive by 6 PM to shoot (must finish before closing). Bad weather may affect hours—call 512-272-4707 to confirm if conditions are questionable.
They sell 12-gauge, 20-gauge, and 28-gauge shells to the public. 16-gauge and .410 shells are not carried.
They partner with certified instructors for private lessons and host clay shooting classes throughout the year. Contact instructors directly for rates and scheduling. Check their event calendar for upcoming sessions.
Capital City Clays hosts NSCA (National Sporting Clays Association) sanctioned competitions at $65/day. They also accept group events and corporate outings for 25+ participants. Contact their events team to plan a custom gathering.
No age restrictions—minors just need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Closed-toed shoes recommended. Safety and accountability are core to their operation.
