Full description and what we offer
Dos Plumas Hunting Ranch is a family-owned operation that cuts through the typical hunting outfitter BS. Owner spent 48 years hunting at different ranches—some good, most not. Built this one the way it should be: affordable price, plenty of game, comfortable lodging, zero trophy fees, and zero surprise costs.
"Our success depends on your success." That's the operating philosophy here.
Located on 811 County Road 130 in Trent, TX, the ranch sits 30 minutes west of Abilene in the thick cedar rolling hills on the edge of the Edward's Plateau. That puts you:
Rifle Hog Hunts - $600 per hunter, 2-day minimum - 2 days hunting, 2 nights lodging, 2 hogs included - Semi-guided spot-and-stalk or stand hunting - Additional days: $275 (includes 1 day hunting, 1 night lodging, 1 hog) - Rifle range on-site for sighting in
Archery Hog Hunts - Same pricing and structure as rifle hunts - Bow range for accuracy checks - Archery-specific strategies for wild pigs
Ram/Hog Combo Hunts - $1,500 per hunter, 2-day minimum - Harvest 1 ram (Corsican, Texas Dall, Black Hawaiian, Angora, Jacob Four Horn available) and 1 hog - Add extra day for $275 - Ground blinds or spot-and-stalk methods
Trophy Hog Hunts & Thermal Hunts - Available year-round - Summer thermal hunts June-August - Current special: Buy one, get one 50% off July & August hunts
Arrive the evening before (5-9 PM) to a spacious bunkhouse with full kitchen and AC. Meet your guide, go over safety guidelines, sight in your weapon on the ranch range, or hang at the campfire.
Hunts start early. Your guide takes you out in the ranch truck to your stand or hunting area. Spot hogs breaking from the brush in the West Texas sunrise. After you harvest, the ranch picks you up and brings animals to the skinning shed.
Mid-day offers options: skin/quarter your own (electric hoists provided, walk-in cooler available), have the ranch manager do it ($25-$50 depending on size), or spot-and-stalk for more action. Evening hunts are when the real activity happens—wild hogs are loud and aggressive in the late afternoon.
No license required for wild hogs in Texas.
Non-residents hunting ram/predators need a 5-Day Special Hunting license ($48 adult, $8 age 16 & under). Texas residents need a regular hunting license for ram/predator hunting. Active duty military get free licenses. Buy online or at Walmart in Texas.
They call themselves "The Working Man's Ranch" for a reason. No gimmicky discounts, no trophy fees, no hidden charges at checkout. Most hunters appreciate the transparency and the fact that guides treat you like family, not another booking number.
Ranch hours: 7 AM - 9 PM daily. Call 325-514-4794 or email [email protected] to book.
