Peak season runs September through February for hard-antlered bulls. You can hunt any time of year if your goal is filling the freezer with low-fat, high-protein venison.
The Hacienda provides rustic luxury: bar, pool, hot tub, fire pit, pickleball/basketball court, game tables, pool table, and large screens.
Elk bulls weigh 800–1,080 pounds with antlers that typically run 3.5–4 feet. During the rut, they bugle to advertise fitness and warn rivals—which makes hunting during that window more exciting and audible.
What to Know: - Elk shed and grow new antlers every year (can grow an inch daily) - Hunters typically save the ivory teeth as a memento - Highly vocal animals using squeals, barks, and bugles to communicate - November rut season offers the most active hunting
