Full description and what we offer
Texas Brigades operates a junior shooting sports competition program focused on connecting young cadets with wildlife management, natural resources, and conservation education. This isn't a traditional gun range or retail operation—it's an educational nonprofit that organizes competitions and outreach events statewide.
The organization runs multiple youth camps throughout the year across different disciplines:
- •Bass Fishing Camp (BASS)
- •West Texas Fly Fishing (WTFL)
- •Ranching & Land Stewardship (RANCH)
- •North Texas Big Game Hunting (NTBB)
- •Coastal Brigade (marine and coastal conservation)
- •ND Waterfowl (North Dakota waterfowl management)
Graduates from these camps participate in a Books of Accomplishment (BOA) tracking system where they earn points for educational outreach and community service.
Texas Brigades cadets participate in dozens of statewide events throughout the year:

A.3 - Manned Poster Display - Cadets staff Texas Brigades booths at events - Minimum 1 hour per day for points - Used at expos, festivals, hunting shows, and banquets

A.5 - Assist with Conservation Organization Event - Hands-on instruction and activity support - Examples: Houston Fishing Show Kids Casting (instructors, gift table helpers), Forest Fest (hands-on wildlife education), HBGFC Fun Fishing Day (helping Ronald McDonald House children) - Points awarded per day of assistance
A.6 - Coordinate Cadets at Event - Leadership opportunity for experienced graduates - Responsible for cadet scheduling, communication, and event logistics - One coordinator per event - Requires attendance for entire event

Unlike traditional shooting sports competitions, Texas Brigades emphasizes conservation education and wildlife stewardship alongside shooting/fishing instruction. Cadets gain experience presenting to professionals, networking with state wildlife agencies, and contributing hands-on instruction to youth in their communities. The BOA system creates measurable accountability while the statewide event calendar provides continuous learning opportunities year-round.
The 27-year-old Farm, Ranch & Wildlife Expo alone demonstrates the organization's reach—drawing 3,000+ farmers and ranchers annually while giving young cadets direct access to land management professionals and industry leaders.
