Guns Up! Training, Firearms & Gun Range operates on a simple principle: you should know how a gun feels before you take it home. Find a handgun you're interested in at the store, and they'll let you take it next door to their indoor range to test it out. That's the "try it before you buy it" guarantee that sets them apart in the Panhandle.
Established in 2022 at 119 W. Stevenson in Hale Center, Guns Up! has built a reputation as a no-nonsense gun shop with serious depth across firearms, ammunition, and training.
The store carries new and used firearms plus a wide range of accessories:
- •Concealed handgun purses and safes
- •Holsters, magazines, cleaning supplies
- •Hearing protection and bulletproof backpacks
- •Common handgun calibers: .22, .380, .40, 9mm, .45
- •Hard-to-find ammunition when other shops are out
If they don't have what you're looking for in inventory, they'll order it at no extra charge. They also take trade-ins, buy unwanted firearms outright, and sell guns on consignment.
The Guns Up! Gun Range is open 10 am to 5:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. After-hours range use available by appointment.
- •Firearms allowed: Most handguns and small caliber rifles. ARs and shotguns are not permitted.
- •Cost: $20 per person. Eye and ear protection required.

Guns Up! is a State of Texas approved training provider. They run LTC (License To Carry) classes every Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm for $60 (cash or credit cards). Lunch is included. No reservations needed—just show up.
What's covered: - Handgun proficiency test (50 rounds total: 20 from 3 yards, 20 from 7 yards, 10 from 15 yards) - Texas firearms laws and use of force - Situational awareness and de-escalation - Interaction with law enforcement - Gun safety fundamentals
You need to bring a handgun and at least 50 rounds. If you don't have either, Guns Up! rents loaner handguns and sells ammunition for the class for only $20.
- •Eligibility: 18-20 year olds can now get a Texas LTC. A 17 year old can take the class but must wait until their 18th birthday to apply for the permit.
A Texas LTC is recognized in 38 states and gets you immediate firearm purchases without NICS delays. It also serves as government-issued photo ID.
After class, Guns Up! will help you complete your DPS application and schedule fingerprinting at their shop if you need assistance.
