Full description and what we offer
LTC - Target Master handles License To Carry certification for Texas shooters. They're straightforward about what they teach and what they don't: the course covers Texas deadly force laws, concealed carry rules, and firearm responsibility. It does NOT cover shooting basics—you need to know how to shoot before you show up.
Their primary offering is a one-day Saturday course:
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (includes lunch break and short breaks)
Cost breakdown: - $90 LTC Course - $40 State Fee
What's included: - Texas certified and insured instructors - Range qualification on DPS-approved range - Notary services - Eye and ear protection - Test preparation assistance
What to bring: - Your firearm - 50 rounds of factory ammo (no bi-metal or steel core) - Driver's License or State ID
Class size maxes out at 18 students, which means better teacher-to-student ratio and your questions actually get answered.
If Saturday classes don't work: - Part A (Classroom): $49.95 through US LawShield online - Part B (Range Instruction): $60/hour - Part C (Proficiency Demonstration): $45
You complete the classroom portion online, then call to schedule your range and qualification portions.
Start your application online first—you'll print a bar-coded checklist to bring to class. You'll also need to handle fingerprinting through L1 Fingerprinting (the state now requires this scanned submission). Target Master handles notary work on-site.
Know Austin's license fees and what you're required to do before class. This isn't something they figure out for you—it's on you.
If you don't already know how to shoot, sign up for their private gun instruction separately. The LTC course assumes you can already handle a firearm.
They recommend two self-defense legal coverage companies: - CCW Safe (criminal, civil, administrative coverage; up to $1M bail) - Texas Law Shield (criminal and civil; use code "Scooter" for 2 extra months with yearly plan)
Cancellation policy: No refunds or reschedules within 5 days of class date. They'll call you the Monday before to confirm.
