Full description and what we offer
Founded in the 1950s by Harry Tennison, Charlie Stephens, Paul Leonard Jr., and Mickey Schmid, the Sportsmen's Club of Fort Worth is an all-volunteer, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Since 1957, they've been channeling donations directly into youth outdoor programs and wildlife conservation in the Fort Worth and Dallas-Fort Worth region.
The Club's mission is straightforward: get kids outdoors and teach them about hunting, fishing, and wildlife conservation. They fund youth organizations through an annual wild game dinner and accept donations of hunting/fishing trips and outdoor gear that get auctioned off.
Primary funding comes from: - Annual Wild Game Dinner (February event each year) - Live and silent auctions of donated hunting and fishing trips - Silent auction items including outdoor equipment, meals, and sportsman merchandise - Approximately 200 donated items annually ranging from local to international hunting trips - Grants and donations from private businesses and individuals
The Club supports over 50 youth organizations and programs, including:
A substantial majority of Club funds go directly to local area youth, charitable, and educational activities. They're actively looking to fund new organizations that share their goals.
The Club funds work with organizations throughout Tarrant County and beyond:
| Youth Programs | Community Partners | Conservation Groups |
|---|---|---|
| Aledo Bass Fishing Team | Big Brothers, Big Sisters | Delta Waterfowl |
| Texas Jr Anglers | Young Life | National Wild Turkey Federation |
| Kids Outdoor Zone | Girl Scouts | Texas Parks & Wildlife |
| Go Wild Outdoors | Camp Carter | CCA FTW |
| Osprey Bass Anglers | Christ's Haven | C.A.S.T. |
Held in February each year, the Wild Game Dinner is the Club's primary fundraiser and features:
Donated auction items include hunting and fishing trips (local and international), outdoor equipment, dogs, meals, sports memorabilia, and hunting/fishing accessories.

"The Club relies exclusively on donations from private businesses and individuals and the net proceeds from our annual fundraising banquet. Without our generous donors, our event would not be possible."
