Full description and what we offer
The Straits Area Sportsmen's Club (SASC) has anchored outdoor education and wildlife stewardship in the Mackinac Straits area for nearly 50 years. Members are hunters, fishers, trappers, and outdoor enthusiasts who actively participate in habitat restoration, policy advocacy, and youth engagement across Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
SASC focuses on real conservation topics affecting the U.P.: bear management, moose populations, wolf predator-prey relationships, white-tailed deer, upland game birds, trapping regulations, and Michigan's right to hunt and fish. Members educate both their membership and the broader community through surveys, forums, and informational materials.
Monthly Meetings: 3rd Monday at 7:30 p.m., St. Ignace Moose Lodge, 2999 Mackinac Trail. Open to anyone interested in hunting, fishing, or outdoor conservation.
SASC partners with major organizations including the Upper Peninsula Sportsmen's Alliance (UPSA), Michigan United Conservation Clubs (MUCC), and serves on the Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council. Members actively contribute to state policy discussions and natural resource management decisions.
