Full description and what we offer
Texas Certified Tactical Academy (TCTA) is a Texas DPS-RSD Licensed School (#F09418701) that specializes in advanced weapons training designed for security professionals, CHL holders, and civilians who need real-world firearm skills.
The core difference: TCTA starts where basic gun safety classes end. A standard CHL course runs 50 rounds from standing at 3, 7, and 15 yards. A security commission course does similar—timed, clinical, stationary shooting. TCTA teaches what actually happens in a gunfight: dynamic movement, tactical reloads, malfunction clearing, strong and weak hand shooting, cover and concealment, multiple positions.
Train as you fight. Fight as you train. Their instructors draw from actual combat experience overseas, foreign protection details, military, and law enforcement backgrounds—not just manual-based instruction.
"Even though this is a firearms course, we realize that not every problem can or should be handled with a firearm. We strive to emphasize the importance of using your most valuable tool—your brain—to solve problems."
TCTA serves: - Armed security professionals needing combat shooting skills - CHL holders wanting to go beyond licensing requirements - Families concerned about home and self-defense - Companies and teams requiring coordinated training
They also emphasize that a team is only as strong as its weakest link—they can train families, companies, or groups together so everyone operates at the same level.
Beyond advanced weapons, TCTA offers online and in-person courses in: - Security commission certification - Bodyguard training - Supervision and management - CEW (Conducted Energy Weapon) - First aid and CPR - Handcuffing, pepper spray, baton training
All training can be tailored to individual or group needs. No limit to scenarios or circumstances they can train for.
