Armed Texans Gun Store and Shooting Range

Armed Texans operates one of Wood County's most versatile shooting facilities. Located at 369 CR 2784 in Mineola, the property spans 20 acres with six outdoor shooting bays, a covered shooter pavilion, and four 50-yard bays set up with IDPA challenge layouts. They recently added trap shooting for shotguns, so if you're into shotgun sports, this is worth the drive.

Members and day-pass shooters access unlimited steel targets (you spray paint the backings white after use). The range operates Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and they stay busy—Saturdays regularly fill up when classes are scheduled.

Memberships require a 12-month commitment with a 45-day cancellation policy—similar to gym membership structures.

Three instructors run the program: Kelly Smith, Christine Sanders, and Alan Williams. Classes run 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

Required for Texas License to Carry. Calendar-based scheduling.

Full day (8 hours) covering: - Firearms safety fundamentals - Proper stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control - Safe handling, storage, and basic maintenance - Marksmanship basics and range etiquette - 2-3 hours of live fire range time

Bring 150+ rounds and your own handgun, or rent one from the shop ($100 per three-gun package). Eye and ear protection required.

8-hour course for shooters with basic gun handling skills. Topics include: - Finding the dot and repeatable draws - Target focus and proper MOA/brightness selection - Shooting with occluded optics and wet optics - Optic maintenance and failure drills

Requires 400 rounds, pistol with mounted red dot sight, holster, magazine pouch, proper outdoor clothing, and hat.

Full-day class (8:30 AM–4:30 PM) for new and experienced shooters. Covers weapon selection, loading, shooting fundamentals, cleaning, and safe storage. Minimum age 18 (or 15 with parent/guardian). Bring 50 rounds for qualifications and full safety gear.

Armed Texans buys, sells, and trades firearms. Inventory includes new and used handguns, rifles, shotguns, plus optics, knives, survival gear, apparel, and range accessories.

Private marksmanship instruction available through instructor Kelly Smith. Gun rental packages: $100 per three-gun package.

The 2,400-square-foot event room holds up to 40 people and includes a large projector screen, tables, chairs, coolers with ice and drinks, and dedicated safety staff. Pricing scales with group size:
