Location details and information
Lake Highlands Shooting Center is a family-owned indoor range built for shooters at every level—from people picking up a gun for the first time to law enforcement and security professionals. The facility sits in central Dallas, a block south of LBJ Freeway and a block east of Plano Road, with 60+ free parking spaces available at nearby BB Owen city park.
LHSC operates 12 shooting lanes divided into three bays:
- •Bays 1 & 2: Five lanes each at 15 yards, used for general shooting, License to Carry (LTC) training, and basic firearms courses
- •Bay 3: Two lanes at 15 yards, equipped with the MILO LIVE FIRE Projection Targeting System and setup for AR-15, AK-47, and small group training (up to 8 shooters)
The range is climate-controlled, acoustically sound-dampened, and features modern bullet traps. All firearms must have sights. No steel-core ammunition, no 5.56mm Green Tip rounds—everything gets the magnet test.
LHSC is the only public range in the Dallas Metroplex with the MILO LIVE FIRE system, used by the FBI, ATF, and police agencies worldwide. The system provides:
- •800 real-life scenarios from street confrontations to active shooter situations
- •Branching technology where instructors modify scenarios in real-time—escalating or de-escalating threat levels
- •Your choice of weapons: shoot with your own gun, rent from LHSC, or use their laser-mounted Glock trainers
- •Zombie scenarios with exploding targets (popular for group events and younger shooters)
Trainees feel like they're in the middle of the action and can resolve conflicts peacefully or with live fire. If you make a termination shot, the perpetrator falls and the scenario ends. Audio commands add realism.
This isn't simulation. MILO lets you practice shoot/don't shoot decisions and situational awareness with live rounds—preparing you for actual dangerous situations in ways no other system offers.
