Full description and what we offer
Big Mountain Hunting Ranch operates a 50-acre exclusive hunting property in Elberta, Utah, about 12 miles west of Santaquin on I-15 (exit 244). The ranch offers year-round hunts because game is privately raised on the property—no hunting licenses or seasonal restrictions required.
Your hunting party gets exclusive access to the 50-acre ranch. Game animals are released the night before your arrival. When you show up, you begin hunting using traditional methods: stalking, tracking, calling, or blind setup. Up to two hunters can carry loaded weapons at any time. The ranch team will accompany you and provide hints if you want guidance, or you can hunt independently.
Once you've successfully taken an animal, the staff field dresses it for you. Average shot distances run 50-200 yards for rams and 30 yards for turkeys depending on terrain. Hiking averages about half a mile. The ranch terrain splits between hilly areas with juniper and pinion, and flatter sage country.
Firearms hunts are allowed (excluding handguns and AR-platform rifles). Archery hunts are available. The ranch has even accommodated atlatl hunts. Hunter orange is not required due to the controlled nature of operations, though many hunters wear camo for better photos.
Hunts are scheduled most evenings, all day Thursdays and Fridays, and Saturday afternoons and evenings. Reservations can be booked up to six months in advance. Call 385-404-9085 (accepts texts) or (801) 667-3529. Spanish spoken.
The rustic bunkhouse includes: - Bunk beds and loft space for sleeping bags - Wood stove with firewood provided - Table and bench seating - Electrical wiring (bring a generator if needed) - Porta potty facilities - Fire pit
RVs welcome with no hookups available.
Hunt packages include exclusive ranch access, guide service or rifle backup if desired, and field dressing. Tracking collars are available upon request at no additional charge.
You can butcher your game yourself, drop it at a local butcher on the way home, or the ranch will drop it off for processing. Customers cover all processing charges.
No minimum age—hunters under 18 must have a parent or guardian present.
Big Mountain Hunting Ranch has partnered multiple times with Chairbound Sportsmen, a non-profit serving wounded warriors and people with mobility challenges. The ranch founder started this operation after target shooting became restricted west of Utah Lake due to fire danger. What began as a solution for local sportsmen has grown into a full hunting operation that brings groups together for birthdays, anniversaries, and first-time hunting experiences.
