Full description and what we offer
JROTC Archery is the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) implementation for junior ROTC cadets grades 9-12. This isn't recreational archery—it's a structured, military-affiliated program that teaches discipline, focus, and responsibility through one of the safest sports in schools.
Archery has a safety record better than every ball sport taught in schools except table tennis. It doesn't discriminate based on popularity, athletic ability, gender, size, or academic performance. That's the whole point: archery empowers individuals who might not succeed in traditional team sports.
Cadets learn: - Discipline and patience through proper shooting technique - Responsibility in range safety and equipment handling - Focus and determination through competitive scoring
Teams consist of 6 cadets (male or female, no gender requirements). Schools can field multiple teams. Every program follows identical NASP® standards—same equipment, same range setup, same training methods—ensuring consistency and fairness across all participating schools.
"NASP equipment is safe, universal fit, modern, affordable, durable, and identical for every student. When everyone uses the same gear, the emphasis shifts from equipment to proper technique."
All JROTC archery instructors must become Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) certified through NASP-approved training. Certification requires: - Minimum age 18 - Hybrid or in-person training (~8 hours) - Practical exam pass + 80% on written exam - Cost: $80 per person - Annual maintenance: minimum 10 hours teaching/coaching annually
Training is offered regularly throughout the year. Contact JROTC Archery National Director Kasey Bruce at (405) 474-9223 or [email protected] for scheduling.
JROTC Archery hosts three Virtual Tournament Series annually (Nov-Mar-May) plus the National JROTC Archery Tournament in May. No minimum qualifying scores required—all teams with brigade approval can compete. Individual and team awards are given; winning teams receive exclusive experiences like archery industry factory tours.
Centershot® BLUE handles equipment sales directly to JROTC schools and approved organizations. Equipment must remain school property and cannot be resold to individuals. Schools interested in personal equipment should contact local archery dealers.
Schools can fundraise through two commission-based options: 50% commission on sales, or receive a bow plus 20% commission.
