Full description and what we offer
Legacy Gunworks & Engraving opened in Kaysville, Utah in 2018 when founder Alex Castillo combined his passion for shooting sports with innovative laser engraving technology. This is an FFL 7 licensed operation with SOT approval—meaning they can handle manufacturer-level work and proper serialization on NFA items.
They work by appointment only, which is typical for custom shops that actually care about getting your specific project right. No walk-ins, no rushing. You call (801-678-2542), text, or email to set up a consultation.
Their gallery shows why customers come back: battle-worn 1911s with custom Cerakote in burnt bronze and graphite black. Henry rifles with patriotic themes. Glocks with intricate stipple patterns. A Benelli SBE in tungsten Cerakote with carbon fiber hydrodip and gold color-filled engravings. A 1924 Hamilton pocket watch etched with a pheasant and Art-Deco scrolls to preserve its story.
They also do non-firearm work: knives, keychains, jewelry, card holders, golf clubs, Christmas ornaments. Basically, if you want to personalize something and make it an heirloom, they can do it.
"I inherited a shotgun from my Grandpa and wanted to bring it back up to par with the quality of new. They had the gun a total of 3 weeks and did a complete wood restoration, along with restoring all the metal. This gun looks as if it came off the shelf like this." – Riley G.
"He truly created an heirloom that will be in our family for years to come. His suggestions on colors and combinations were spot on. It turned out better than I could have imagined!!!" – David F.
Customers consistently mention: professional communication, realistic timelines they actually meet, fair pricing, and genuine care about the work. Multiple reviews note the personal touch you get from a small, owner-operated shop.
Alex Castillo and his team are passionate about the outdoors and shooting sports. The business is family-owned and contributes annually to Weber State University, Utah Food Bank, American Diabetes Association, and Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation.
They also sell items on Etsy (personalized keychains with Cerakote and hydro-dipping options). Check out their social media for recent projects and updates on service status.
