Full description and what we offer
Jake and Heather started Utah Defense Solutions because they believe proper training is the foundation of responsible self-defense. Jake grew up shooting at age two and holds a B.S. in History with a Criminal Justice minor, plus an MBA. He's NRA-certified for handgun and concealed carry instruction, trained as an armed security instructor, and operates their firearms simulator. Heather ensures range safety and understands firsthand why continuous training matters.
"We know each person learns differently, so we cater our teaching to your strengths to help build proficiency."
Even though Utah is now constitutional carry, this class covers firearm safety, state and federal law, shooting fundamentals, and use-of-force scenarios. You'll understand the restrictions that still apply. Base price: $45 (laws only option $30). Add 15 minutes on the simulator for $12.
Beginners through advanced shooters learn marksmanship fundamentals using their own firearm. The class moves between simulator training and live fire range work, letting you understand your gun inside and out.
Their simulator replicates real recoil for target identification, transitions, and speed work. Advanced shooters use it for stress inoculation and moving target practice. Individuals can book hourly sessions (2-hour minimum, $75/hour). Ages 13+ welcome with a guardian if under 18.
They combine live fire and simulator training in ways a range alone can't offer. The simulator lets you practice without burning through ammunition or risk unsafe drills on the range. Their philosophy centers on fundamentals—mastering the basics makes everyone, from beginner to advanced, a better shooter.
No refund policy, but you can apply costs toward future classes or simulator bookings.
Force on Force training curriculum is currently in development.
