Their active shooter defense course is mostly hands-on: empty hand combatives, pistol and long gun disarms, room barricading, trauma care, and stress scenarios. Students complete a full scenario under pressure to meet certification requirements.
Heather Snider founded the company in 2012 after years coordinating security for major Vermont events—Champlain Valley Fair, Killington World Ski Cup, Grand Point North, Lake Champlain Maritime Festival, Mardi Gras. She's held to Vermont standards by the Office of Professional Regulations and officially licensed as armed security.
Heather's credentials include: - Certified NRA Pistol Instructor & Chief Range Safety Officer - Certified Active Shooter Instructor - Certified NRA CCW Instructor - Certified in Protective Firearms & Executive Protection - Associates Degree in Criminal Justice (2020) - Certified Law Enforcement Officer (2020)
Dan Van Ornum works alongside her with similar depth—licensed armed security since 2014, certified active shooter instructor, FLETC-certified control tactics instructor, and certified by Safariland in defensive tactics and OC instruction.
NRA Basic Pistol Course — For people brand new to firearms or needing a refresher. Covers firearm safety, how a pistol operates, proper grip, stance, and shooting fundamentals.
NRA Concealed Carry Course — For experienced shooters wanting to carry concealed. Covers carry methods, holsters, self-defense situations, and related topics.
Active Shooter Defense — Hands-on course covering Dept. of Homeland Security Run, Hide, Fight guidelines, pistol and long gun disarms, combatives, barricading, and trauma care. Includes scenario-based training under stress.
