Full description and what we offer
AIMS Training and Consulting delivers practical firearms training for self-defense, with instructors certified by both the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Every class combines classroom instruction with hands-on range work using traditional marksmanship fundamentals, paper targets, and steel reactive target systems.
Basic Pistol Course — The foundation. 8-10 hours covering firearms safety, revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, ammunition selection, holster choices, and safe home storage. You'll pass a written test and a live-fire qualification (3-yard targets). Cost: $150 per student. Don't have a handgun? They provide one free of charge. Ammunition is available for purchase on-site.
Completion provides an NRA certificate that satisfies Virginia concealed carry permit training requirements—and qualifies for permits in other states too.
Concealed Carry Certification — Your path to a Virginia CCW permit or resident/non-resident permits in your home state. Built on the Basic Pistol framework with emphasis on practical self-defense choices.
Home Defense Training — Focused on personal protection in your own space, with specific guidance on firearm selection for home defense and safe storage protocols.
Refresher & Continued Training — Custom-tailored courses for small or large groups, built to your skill level and specific environment. $50 per student (minimum two students). Typically 2 hours.
Site Safety Assessments — Evaluations for churches and businesses addressing medical emergencies, disruptive events, and violence response protocols. Multi-layered security planning.
HR218/LEOSA Qualification — Annual concealed carry qualification courses for retired law enforcement officers, free of charge, conforming to Virginia DCJS and federal HR 218 standards.
NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Certification — 1-day classroom course. $150 per student (minimum 4 students per class). Graduates receive NRA Range Safety Guide and RSO Certificate.
